About Us
Our Mission
Rogue Retreat serves people experiencing homelessness in Southern Oregon. We began in 1998 as addiction recovery housing and expanded in 2006 to focus on individuals and families facing homelessness, many of whom also experience mental health challenges and substance use disorders.
Today, we meet people where they are. We provide shelter and housing first, then surround each person with the supportive services they need to rebuild their lives and return to the community.
Our Approach
We believe housing alone is not enough. Stability comes from pairing safe shelter with compassionate support.
Through innovative housing programs and strong community partnerships, Rogue Retreat offers case management, peer support, and access to healthcare, job training, and essential resources. Together, these services help individuals overcome barriers, gain independence, and move toward long term stability.
Our goal is simple: empower people to move beyond homelessness and build a future rooted in dignity, connection, and hope.
Supportive Services
Our supportive services team works closely with community partners to meet the complex needs of program participants. This includes support for mental health, medical care, employment, finances, legal issues, and social connection.
These services help participants build skills, gain knowledge, and develop the confidence needed for self sufficiency and healthy independence.
Shelter and Housing Options
Rogue Retreat offers a range of housing and shelter programs designed to meet people at different stages of their journey.
Low Barrier Shelters
Our shelters do not require sobriety for entry. Participants are supported with dignity and respect. At The Crossings, alcohol and drug use is not permitted on site, and guests are welcome to keep their pets with them.
Village Communities
Our villages are safe, gated, and staffed communities with sobriety requirements. Participants take part in daily chores and weekly home checks, learning responsibility and life skills that prepare them to become future tenants and neighbors.
Shared Housing and Apartments
We also provide shared housing and affordable apartments with higher entry requirements, including proof of income and 30 to 60 days of sobriety. Residents meet regularly with case managers to address personal goals and track progress toward independence.
Our case management approach is a multi-faceted supportive network of community partners who collaborate with Rogue Retreat’s supportive services staff to serve the needs of participants when, where, and how they need it. Part of or effectiveness is our staff, many of whom come from an addiction background, or some might call it a “lived experience.” This experience makes a difference in our programs because it’s hard to say you’ve walked a mile in someone’s shoes unless you truly have. These staff members believe in our mission — they’ve lived it and made their own journeys back into the community.
