POSITION SUMMARY
The Jobs Skills Coordinator will serve as a mentor and coach to Rogue Retreat guests and job trainees. The member will develop and implement a comprehensive jobs readiness program for adults of all ages currently living at Rogue Retreat shelters and housing. This program will help guests break down barriers to employment, expand and develop new skills, increase their knowledge and abilities for job searches. The member will nurture and develop community partnerships through collaborative efforts while working with staff and guests.
This includes providing training for job readiness activities, such as preparing resumes, job interview preparation, digital literacy, job searches, and job application submission.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (to include, but not limited to)
Collaborate with staff and community partners to create pathways to employment for Rogue Retreat guests.
Utilize community resources to reinforce and/or provide training.
Develop and implement job readiness orientation, collaborate with community partners to create job readiness goals, timelines, and training.
Monitor and evaluate trainings and presentations, provide feedback for improvement.
Educate guests and participants with job readiness skills.
Strengthen relationships between guests, participants, volunteers, and staff.
Create a standard operations procedures guide for the program.
Create an impact report providing visual charts, results, and numbers to capture qualitative and quantitative data of the project.
Be a part of the Safety Committee and help present pieces of training to the committee.
Complete and submit all necessary SA paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
Attend and complete all SA training and service requirements including orientation, trainings, team meetings, and National Days of Service (Make a Difference Day, MLK Jr. Day, Cesar Chavez Day and a June Service Event).
Wear AmeriCorps apparel and/or appropriate identifiers while performing service or attending official events.
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES (to include, but not limited to)
Attend weekly department meetings.
Attend all staff meetings via phone or in person as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum one-year experience working with vulnerable populations (ie. Homeless community, at-risk youth, families, peer mentorship, food bank, etc).
Ability to collaborate on projects and meet deadlines.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Ability to work with diverse people and/or populations and treat each person with dignity and respect.
Work under the supervision of the Social Enterprises Manager and Development Director.
Maintain confidentiality of Rogue Retreat’s employees, volunteer, partners, donors, and all information related to Rogue Retreat’s operations, finances, and public relations.
Two years sober if you have had an active addiction.
Ability to pass a drug test.
Valid drivers’ license and clean driving record.
17 years of age or older, at the beginning of service term.
U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, or commit to earning one prior to receiving an education award.
Ability to commit to the full term of service for which they are applying.
Must successfully pass a National Service Criminal History Check provided through SA and/or Project Host Site.
Have not previously served four terms in an AmeriCorps*State or National program. Members are only eligible for the equivalent of two full-time education awards in their lifetime. Applicants must disclose if they have ever been removed for cause from any national service program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possess research skills to support the development of this new program for Rogue Retreat.
Possess verbal and written communication skills necessary to understand, interpret, disseminate, and explain written materials.
Be Self-directed, willing to take initiative, detail-oriented, and organized.
Ability to develop and implement training.
The ability to maintain a courteous and friendly demeanor in high-stress situations.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
SERVICE CONDITIONS
Indoor in an office environment.
Occasionally meetings, training, and appointments will be onsite at a shelter, tiny house village, urban campground, or other facilities.
The first four weeks will consist of training and professional development.
PHYSICAL & INTELLECTUAL DEMANDS
Must be able to materially perform tasks normally associated with this position and be able to sit, stand, twist, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, use hands, feet, and keyboarding skills. Be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
EQUIPMENT USED
Company computers, office equipment, and supplies.
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Car recommended.
When approved, mileage will be reimbursed using federal guidelines at $.655 cents per mile.
MEMBER BENEFITS INCLUDE
$20,400 living allowance paid over the 11-month service term (approx. $1,700 monthly, before taxes).
$7,395.00 education award upon successful completion of the term of service which can be used to repay qualified student loans or for further education in an accredited institution of higher learning, vocational or trade schools. The education award is taxed in the year that it is used. Members that are 55 and older may transfer the award to one child or grandchild.
May be eligible for Loan Forbearance & Interest Accrual Repayment on qualified loans (after successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps will pay the accrued interest on qualified loans, which is taxable).
Basic medical insurance (covers members only, not dependents; vision and dental not included).
Child care allowance for those who qualify.
