Service Projects

Kelly Shelter Garden Beds

Saturday, May 11th

Members of the LDS Medford 6th Ward showed up in force to build garden beds at the Kelly Shelter. About 40 men, women, and children not only built the garden beds, but they also provided lunch to shelter guests. The garden provides therapeutic recreation to our guests along with fresh vegetables and herbs.

United Way Day of Caring

Saturday, May 18th

On Saturday, May 18th, the annual United Way Day of Caring took place at Hope Village and Rogue Retreat Crossings. Members of the LDS Church made improvements to the dog park at Hope Village. The much-needed repairs are keeping our residents and their companions safe. Other members painted the little houses at Crossing. United Way graciously paid for these projects and Sherwin Williams helped provide the supplies.

Week of Service

June 10-14

Two youth service groups came together June 10th-14th to provide much needed upgrades to Hope Village. The Piedmont Community Service Crew from California and the youth group from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford helped rebuild horseshoe pits, paint the little houses and added steps with handrails to each unit. The residents of Hope Village were pleasantly surprised by the new steps and handrails, and expressed thanks that it is now easier to access their units. Our maintenance team led the project all week. Case Managers on site pitched in and made sure the volunteers had everything they needed during the hot weather. Our Hope Kitchen staff did an excellent job keeping everyone fed with boxed lunches.
