Expressing Our Gratitude

At Rogue Retreat, we’re fortunate to have a dedicated maintenance team of four hardworking individuals who go above and beyond to keep everything running smoothly. These guys are on call after hours, on weekends, and always show up no matter the time or situation.

Last winter, there was a break-in at our thrift store, Hopeful Secondhand, around 11:30 p.m. The police responded quickly, but the suspect fled along the creek. Within 10 minutes of a phone call from staff, Steven arrived on site. He helped assess the damage around both the maintenance and thrift shops. It was discovered that the intruder had gathered several items to steal, but fortunately, they were interrupted. Steven promptly repaired the fence and secured the property, ensuring everything was safe before leaving.

Isaiah has also gone above and beyond, often coming in on his weekends to support volunteers and staff with issues like roof leaks and sanitation challenges. He’s a favorite at Hopeful Secondhand. The volunteers often bring him treats to show their appreciation. Isaiah’s journey with us began as a guest in the Rising Star program, and his dedication quickly stood out. He was hired full-time and has since moved into his own apartment. Over the past two years, he’s grown tremendously and emerged as a strong, dependable leader.

Our newer team members, Anthony and Doug, have also made a significant impact. They’ve taken on major projects and have improved conditions across our sites. Their work ethic and team spirit have been a welcome addition to the facilities crew.
