The Crossings has become a vital pathway out of homelessness, providing the stability and support people need to rebuild their lives. As our community’s need for housing continues to grow, so does our vision for one of Southern Oregon’s most successful housing programs. Exciting plans are underway to expand the campus and create even more opportunities for hope and transformation.
Every journey out of homelessness begins with a safe place to stay. But lasting change requires something more.
At Rogue Retreat, we’ve learned that emergency shelter is only the first step. The next step is transitional housing, where individuals and families can begin rebuilding their lives while receiving the support, accountability, and resources needed to achieve lasting stability.
That’s why we’re excited to share plans for the next phase of The Crossings.
This expansion is much more than new buildings. It’s an investment in people and in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to move beyond crisis and toward a brighter future.
When completed, the project will add 47 new transitional housing beds, creating opportunities for dozens more people to take the next step beyond emergency shelter. Residents will have affordable housing with the amenities needed for independent living while continuing to work closely with case managers to secure employment, strengthen life skills, save money, overcome barriers, and prepare for permanent housing.
The expansion also includes a new Community Building that will serve the 24 residents living in the cottages. This includes a shared kitchen, dining area, laundry facilities, showers, and gathering spaces that will provide residents with the everyday resources that promote dignity, independence, and community. A new Service Center will expand space for case managers and support staff, allowing more meaningful connections with residents as they work toward housing, employment, healthcare, and recovery goals. Additional ADA-accessible restroom facilities will further improve accessibility and quality of life throughout the campus.
Across Oregon, communities are recognizing that emergency shelter alone cannot solve homelessness. Transitional housing has become an essential bridge between crisis and permanent housing, providing people with the time, stability, and support needed to rebuild their lives. We’re proud to stand alongside organizations across the state that are investing in housing solutions that create lasting change.
Every new bed represents more than additional capacity. It represents another opportunity for someone to regain stability, reconnect with family, build financial independence, and move into a home of their own.
The vision for The Crossings has always been about more than providing shelter. It has been about creating a community where hope can grow, barriers can be overcome, and lives can be transformed.
This expansion brings us one step closer to that vision. Together, we’re building a stronger future for our neighbors and creating more opportunities for people to find not just a place to stay, but a place to rebuild, recover, and eventually find a place to call home.
